THE WOODLANDS, TX (JUNE 18, 2009) - With the Fourth of July just around the corner, there’s nothing like a good old-fashion hot dog and watermelon eating contest and spectacular fireworks to bring out the red, white and blue in all of us.
This Independence Day, the 12th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza in The Woodlands, just 30 minutes north of downtown Houston, will be celebrated with one of the greatest fireworks displays in the greater Houston area.
Come celebrate our nation’s birthday on July 4 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Town Green Park and Waterway Square, located along the banks of The Woodlands Waterway®. Entertainment at Town Green Park will feature live music from Yelba and Max Cat, plus family-fun activities such as the H-E-B Hot Dog and Watermelon Eating Contest, the Donoho’s Jewellers’ jewelry-making activities, a golf range, rock climbing walls, free Xploration Station’s children’s activities, a Hubbell & Hudson Market booth, inflatables, and a beverage station at the Oasis Garden to cool off.
Activities at Waterway Square include face painting, balloon artists, caricatures and an interactive children’s fountain presented by St. Luke’s – The Woodlands Hospital. Enjoy live music from Ramon at 6 p.m. on the Huntsman Corporation entertainment stage, followed by The Josh Ward Band from 8 – 9:30 p.m.
Don’t forget to stick around Waterway Square for the best spot to view the Red, Hot & Blue Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Woodforest National Bank at dusk. The 20-minute show will also be simulcast on Sunny 99.1
